Multifaceted artist Alexis Tyla Roberts hails from Teaneck, New Jersey, and lives in the bustling cultural hub of New York City. Roberts completed her undergraduate studies at Wesleyan University, earning her Bachelor of Arts in Film with an accompanying Writing Certificate in 2020. She distinguished herself during her university days by demonstrating an unrelenting commitment to her art, culminating in a compelling senior thesis film titled "There’s A Glass House That I Want You To See." The film, a testimony to her innovative storytelling and unique perspective, garnered attention when it premiered on NoBudge, a recognized platform for budding directors and groundbreaking independent films. Post-graduation, Roberts extended her artistic reach into the realm of music videos, directing captivating visuals for both independent musicians and renowned major label artists. Each piece is a testament to her ability to transform a song into a captivating visual narrative, demonstrating her proficiency in this multidimensional industry. In addition to her noteworthy accomplishments in film and music, Roberts is also an accomplished poet. Her affinity for poetry, which she describes as her "first love," is evident in the distinct lyricism that pervades her body of work. This propensity for the lyrical was recognized in 2022 when her poetry found a home in the pages of the Minnesota Review, a respected literary journal. Her love for poetry has significantly influenced her work as a Director. Through her lens, be it in a camera or on a page, Roberts weaves stories imbued with a lyrical imaginativeness. Her creations delve into profound truths and existential desires, often experimenting with alternate timelines, pushing the boundaries of the possible, and engaging with complexities that are inherent to the human condition.
