Brooklyn born and raised Shen Williams-Cohen is a fashion photographer loved for imagery and storytelling from a young age. This manifested through his fascination with video games, comics, and animated shows and movies… He spent countless hours immersing himself in these worlds, constantly living in his imagination. Initially, Shen pursued a career in 3D modeling and animation, believing it was the path to express his artistic visions. But it was during a day on set that photography entered Shen's life. Intrigued by the idea of capturing moments and sharing stories through images, he saw photography as the perfect medium to channel his creativity. Without any formal schooling, Shen dived headfirst into photography and took on internships to refine his skills. As he started shooting his friends and acquaintances, Shen experienced a newfound sense of purpose and fulfillment. The connection between his subjects and the ability to bring out their unique stories fascinated him. Portrait and fashion photography became his preferred styles, allowing him to explore the depths of human expression and personality. However, Shen's love for photography extended to all aspects, including documentary and street photography, where he found joy in capturing candid moments of everyday life. Shen's aspiration is to leave a lasting impact through his work, just like his idol, Gordon Parks. He aims to tell powerful stories through his photographs, evoking emotions and sparking conversations. Through his lens, Shen hopes to inspire others and connect with a diverse audience, bridging gaps and breaking barriers. As he continues to explore the world of photography and expand his horizons, Shen Williams-Cohen remains driven by his genuine passion for visual storytelling. With Brooklyn as his backdrop and a camera as his trusted companion, he aspires to create a legacy of artistic excellence that will endure long after he's gone. He is the recipient of the Heroes Mentorship 2023 and we look forward to being part of his journey.
